Hello there first things first I really appreciate this site it has helped me countless times,
Iam wondering if I can use my mybook 1tb ext drive internally i believe it is a sata drive and i currently running ide cables any idea? I would like to change due to long waits on moving large files. it takes roughly 30min to move 14gb,

Generally the answer is yes, but you need a SATA controller and a SATA connector. Modern portable computers have ESATA (External Serial ATA) connectors, but the cheaper netbooks may not have that.

In theory there could be something like an IDE-to-SATA adapter, but I've never seen one.
