Cannot browse some web sites

This is probably not an Internet Explorer problem. Please use the Network Problem Solver.

Slow starting

WebClient service not running

Check whether the WebClient service is running. If not, set its start mode to Automatic and start it or reboot.

Add-ons

Third-party add-ons in IE can be faulty. For a first test, turn them all off: Internet Options, Advanced, uncheck Enable third-party browser extensions.

If this solves the problem, re-enable them all, then disable them in groups and later one by one, to find out which causes the problem: Internet Options, Programs, Manage Add-ons, disable and re-enable programs until the culprit is determined.

Freezing

Automatically detect network settings

One possible cause is that Internet Explorer was mistakenly set to detect network settings automatically. This only works if an administrator has set it up.

Open Internet Explorer and select Tools, Internet Options, Connections. Click on the LAN Settings button. Clear the check box for Automatically detect network settings.
