I would like to know, how to Install Windows XP (SP2) on Windows Vista (Dual-Boot).
I have purchased HP Compaq Notebook which came Pre-Installed with Windows Vista Home Basic. I want to Install Windows XP on it.
I have created a Partition D (by Shrinking Volume C) to have Windows XP on it. But when I start the computer with Windows XP Install CD inside, the Windows XP Set-Up does'nt come at all, and starts Windows Vista. I have set the Boot Order appropriately, i.e, to Boot from CD Drive first.
Could any one please help me to Install Windows XP (SP2) over Windows Vista.
Regards,
Vamsi

It looks as if the setting to boot from the CD doesn't quite work.
Try pressing Esc or some other function key during the BIOS boot phase. Check the screen for hints or check the instructions for use of the motherboard or the computer. Depending on the BIOS, this may bring up a boot menu allowing you to select from which drive to boot.

I also have a CD containing Windows XP and Windows ME Set-up together. When I inserted this CD, it asked for Installing Windows ME. This means BIOS Boot is working.
That would mean

that the Windows XP install CD is defective, in this case not bootable. You may have to turn it in for a new one.
To my knowledge a CD with both Windows ME and XP has never been manufactured by Microsoft. Where did you get it from and what exactly is printed on it?
