Since so much time has passed since this original article was posted, what would you recommend now as a gaming router?
Good question

I don't have a good answer right now, but after the relatively good experience with my old one I would have a good look at the current D-Link line of gaming routers.
Another alternative would be to buy a loadable, Linux-based router and load new, better software on it. That would be more a hacker's solution.
But I'm not fully informed about any other suitable routers at the moment. If I get a faster Internet connection (hopefully soon), I will have to make a decision, if the old one is not strong enough for the higher speeds.
Good Job..!

I've used a DGL-4300 for 6 months, and it has just started giving problems. Will check the hardware version later.
Have posted about it here: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?p=28574390
Sounds like a hardware failure

The symptoms you describe over there sound to me like you want to replace the router.
What do the LAN Statistics show? Any errors?
Actually I'm surprised about the firmware version 1.8. Mine says that 1.7W is the current version and there there is no newer one. Even the US web site shows 1.7 as the latest version.
