CD dislodged in drive

Mon, 2010-08-09 07:32 by iantheevil · Forum/category:

It seems a CD I was using to install a program somehow came off of the tray and is still inside my DVD drive. The tray ejects fine and I can see the CD in there. It would be tough to get at it but it looks like it might be possible to remove it from the front. I could try putting a blank CD in the drive to see if it would jar the first one loose but I really don't want to aggravate the problem.

USB Ports Quit Recognizing Certain Devices

Tue, 2010-05-11 00:11 by MC · Forum/category:

My Windows Xp Pro based system, SP-2, suddenly quit recognizing my USB external hard drive (Seagate) and my 12 in 1 card reader (SanDisk) My Palm Pilot and Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo were unaffected.

I can move the devices around to different USB ports but the result is still the same....the devices are not seen. I have reinstalled drivers, but no joy.

These devices work just fine on all my other workstations.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Hard drive slow after in-place install

Mon, 2010-01-25 20:08 by jango28 · Forum/category:

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop (2GB RAM, 100GB HDD) with Windows XP MCE 2005 (SP2) running.
Recently I had to to do an in-place install as I was getting BSOD on trying to enter safe mode. Everything went on fine without a glitch.
But now I do see a hit on my laptop's performance. It takes longer to boot and hand over cursor control after booting.

Razer Tarantula, 10-key rollover, and the secret code

Sun, 2009-11-01 17:42 by FD · Forum/category:

I recently got myself a new keyboard, the fairly expensive Razer Tarantula. One of the key features of this keyboard is its so called Anti-Ghosting, which is more precisely described as 10-key rollover over USB. (k-key rollover denotes the ability of keyboards to correctly handle a situation in which k keys are pressed simultaneously, independent of the combination pressed) However, to use it, you need to know the secret code!

Windows XP dissapeared

Sun, 2009-10-25 08:55 by giorgos · Forum/category:

Hi, to everyone i write for first time and here is my problem: Before some time my laptop went down and the company which i bought it replaced it with a new one. But i kept the hard disk i had. When i plug the hd to the new laptop ( same specifications as the previous i had ) and tried to run Windows XP BSODs appeared either in safe mode or normal mode or even previous known good configuration. I know that the partitions are still in the hard disk and hard disk works well as i connected to a pc via a usb cable and managed to see my files.

Installing XP using SATA

Fri, 2009-06-26 12:16 by Joshua s · Forum/category:

hey, i have recently been advised to reinstall windows and i am getting the BSoD message when attempting to install windows. this is due to my computer's SATA driver. this requires a floppy with the drivers on it.
however, i do not know how to get these 32bit files which are needed:
jraid (security catalog)
Jraid (system file)
txtsetup.oem
xraid_f

my motherboard type is ms-6741
i do have a floppy drive, so all i need is the files. does anyone know where i can get these?

edit: i'm trying to install windows xp with service pack 2 if thats any help
