WindowsA problem in Windows, probably caused by Windows or one of its components (except driver problems - select Hardware for these) I can't uninstall a programSun, 2008-11-02 16:28 · Forum/category:I run windows xp and I was recently attempting to install the video game Neverwinter Nights 2. During installation, my computer shut off through a seperate issue that has since been fixed. Now the game is not installed properly and any attempts to uninstall give me a long error message followed by error code -5001. Since then the folder in program files has been deleted. Is there any way to uninstall this useless program from my computer? The fact that it is still there prevents me from trying to reinstall the game too.
Windows Explorer doesen't stop deleting files under XP sp2Wed, 2008-10-29 07:33 · Forum/category:Hi! It has been some time now I'm noticing this problem. When I delete files with Windows Explorer, the dialog displaying the progress of deleting stays open even if the files are already deleted. This caused no major problem since now, but now I started using other tools that delete files and the tools halt (W.Explorer doesen't really halt, seems to be multithread). Does anyone know what this is about? I noticed this problem on many computers so far. Thanks! Tonique

![]() Service Pack 2 installs then reboots to Safe ModeMon, 2008-09-15 16:30 · Forum/category:I needed to rebuild my hard drive and have reloaded XP Home edition from CD. I then loaded SP2 without any apparent problems. When I select the reboot to complete the install can only reopen windows in safe mode. I have opted for a system restore point on 3 occasions and reverted to the microsoft site for a solution. Vista logon screen resolution?Sun, 2008-09-07 21:26 · Forum/category:My Vista Basic SP1 logon screen has only VGA resolution (640x480), while all users and the administrator account have full screen resolution (1280x800).
![]() Cannot print unless I rebootThu, 2008-07-31 14:31 · Forum/category:My Windows XP SP3 workstation has stopped printing to a network printer. I have tried different drivers from HP and even replaced the network card but nothing will print unless I reboot the machine. Nothing prints at the login screen, it is only after I login that everything then churns out of the printer. I don't think there is anything wrong with any hardware as I have also installed Ubuntu 8.04 on another hard disk in the same machine and I can print without any problems. So it looks as if my Windows installation has gone wrong somehow. Has anyone experienced this problem before ?

A little problem but need helpSun, 2008-07-06 10:06 · Forum/category:I'm sure someone will be able to assist me on this but I have not been able to fix it on my own. I am using Opera as a web browser.. when I clik on a photo on someones blog or webpage in order to get a full size view of the picture, it usually takes me to a download "box" instead. Once in a while I can manage to see a larger picture but not often. Is there somewhere that I can change a setting?? I'd sure appreciate help.
No taskbar, no desktopSat, 2008-07-05 11:45 · Forum/category:If your taskbar disappeared and doesn't even come back after rebooting the system, start the Windows Explorer by hand. How do you start a program when there is no start button? You can press Ctrl + Alt + Del, then open the Task Manager. Click on the Applications tab, then on the button to start a new task. In the dialog box that appears, enter: explorer Hit return and check whether your missing taskbar reappears. If it does not, you have a problem other than the one described here and this article cannot help you. If it does, please read on. (3 votes) |
