cmd.exe Application Error?

Thu, 2010-02-11 17:11 by SunshineBarbie · Forum/category:

A while ago I began getting numerous duplicate error messages after my computer started up. The error message says:

"cmd.exe - Application Error", "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application."

I have to hit OK dozen's and dozen's of times before it stops and can see the error message in the Task Window. After clicking OK, the entry in the Task menu goes away, so I keep doing it until they all go away.

Sometimes, it happens again when I am working on something, but mostly it always does it when I first start the machine up.

Hi guys
I`ve got that oriole problem.

I had a problem with Windows 7 unable to boot with another Ubuntu partition. I took ours to be able to back up all the files in windows using a XP live disk. After the back up i had all my files safe but the grab has been damaged and no OS wanted to load (error 17).

After few attempts, my MBR sectors has been erased including the partition table.
So now i`ve got a lonely 250 gb unallocated partition.

Can't boot WinXP

Sun, 2010-01-31 02:11 by uncdwm · Forum/category:

Help! Can't boot WinXP with IBM T42p - doesn't display Windows screen!?

I have an IBM Thinkpad T42p with WinXP and when I boot it up the initial IBM screen comes up where you can press an F key to go into different modes or BIOS utility. The machine never goes to the "Windows XP" screen with the bar and it loading.

But after that the screen is blank and the computer doesn't boot up - just nothing happens (although the battery, power, and dvd drive lights are on)

Cannot Delete Downloaded Program File

Mon, 2010-01-18 03:37 by ComputersAreTheDevil · Forum/category:

While attempting to perform a disk cleanup, the cleanmgr.exe program fails (application error when writing memory) when trying to remove "Downloaded Program Files". I am using IE8.

To troubleshoot, I went to the c:\windows\downloaded program files folder and attempted to remove them individually - using the right-click>remove function. After a short while, I found only one file that causes this error while trying to remove it...

Cannot open JPG files on desktop using Windows Picture and Fax viewer

Thu, 2009-10-29 06:03 by Flyingwriter · Forum/category:

When I double click an image file, i.e. a .jpg or .png file, on the Desktop, I see the Picture and Fax viewer flash open and instantaneously close. If I select Office Viewer (or any other picture program) as the default viewer, no problem - the picture stays open until I close it. But if I re select the Win Fax viewer again as the default viewer, the picture just flashes open and immediately closes. Very frustrating.
