Ive been a long time lurker but not very often do i post.
I have this problem with an HP computer that i am trying to setup a fresh install of Windows on.
Basically go to the bios and have the CD-drive become the 1st boot device with the Windows disc in there.
Windows goes through the setup processs (press F8, delete old partition, wait for format to finish, etc)
everything goes fine during that process, all the drivers and stuff install fine no errors occurring at all.
So that process goes fine, then it gets to the point where the computer has to restart and enter Windows setup.
Only when it restarts it just hangs at a blue screen with the mouse pointer showing. I am able to move the mouse, but nothing happens it just stalls at that blue screen.
I've tried several different versions of windows from the disc that comes with the HP PC to just standard Home edition versions not specific to HP. Tried new discs to make sure it wasn't just the scratches.
Please help me, this situation is frustrating and i dont know what else to do.
Try to remove one of the Memory (RAM)

There had been a known issue when installing XP similar to your case. Its worth trying removing one of the RAM, if still the same, bring back the RAM that you pulled out and pull out the other one.
Pull the CD

Have you tried to pull out the CD when the computer boots for the first time after installation?
Normally that should not be necessary, but perhaps it helps in this case. If not, then the simple conclusion is that the computer is either defective or incompatible with the Windows install CD.
If the computer needs a special driver for the hard disk controller or the graphics adapter or any required piece of hardware, you would have to provide that during the installation. There is a special procedure for that, which involves pressing the F6 function key at the right time.
