That was a typical spammer. I have already deleted the garbage. Deleting it is a very quick and easy operation here. I can delete them all at once with special content administration functions. Deleting them is certainly much faster and easier than posting them.
Normally I look over this web site a few times a day, but today I was very busy and looked only now.
The idea of the spammer is to post articles with links, so the sites that are linked to raise in search engine rank. It also seems to be typical that these spammers are poor guys from India, sometimes China, who get a few cents for these links.
There are also spambots, i.e. computer programs that post spam, but those can't get in here because of the human test question that has to be answered when registering. And on this site you cannot enter anything without registration.
On many sites it is allowed to post comments without being registered. Therefore spammers usually post comments first, which is called "comment spam". Most don't even notice that after registration they can post articles here too. This guy noticed and posted articles and then a chain of comments to each article.
The comments didn't work, because I have programmed this site such that comments that contain links stay invisible until the admin (me) approves them, while comments without links become visible immediately.
I haven't bothered to do the same thing for the main articles, because most spammers just post comments. I could change that if spam increases, but it's always a balance between defending against spam and inconveniencing honorable users. The struggle goes on, but we're mostly on the winner's side. (:-)
