system hangs, screen blank after wake up from sleep?

I have a big problem in my laptop ferrari3400. The system hangs after resuming from sleep. The screen is completely blank. nothing works. I have to hard press the power button to turn off. when i again turn it ON it resumes to its original location and works perfectly. Is there any way to find what causing this trouble?

If it resumes from where it was suspended even after it is switched off, then it had already gone from suspended to hibernate mode and saved its RAM content to disk.
Laptops normally change from suspended to hibernate on their own after a while. The time is settable. After the change they switch themselves off.
Be sure you know exactly which button has to be pressed and for how long to go into standby mode. And be sure, when you want to continue, whether the computer is in standby or in hibernate mode.
It can help to upgrade to the latest BIOS version. It is also possible that there is a hardware defect, in which case the laptop has to be sent in for service. Finally make sure the computer is not infected with virus, worm, spyware, adware or other malevolent intruder.
