Unable to add account information in OE6
I recently reinstalled winxp pro sp2 w/all updates. I set up my main identity in Outlook Express with no problems. But when I tried to set up additional identities, I found all I could do was to create names. The 'account' tab that was usually present in the tools was missing. There was just 'options' by itself at the bottom. For years I have always had 'account' and 'options' there. When I wanted to create additional accounts I just went to the 'account' button and did so. But for some reason that option is no longer there. I don't know if an update removed my access to it or if my antivirus/firewall did so (bitdefender internet suite) (but I can't imagine why it would).
Does anyone know what I must do (can do) to have the ability to add other accounts back into the OE program?
Many thanx in advance. ))

Try this first
Some very good general help can be found in An Outlook Express basic repair kit by fellow MVP Tom Koch. Try these points first and also follow the links at the end of the document.
Thank you for your
Thank you for your suggestion but it didn't pan out for me. Followed the whole page but it didn't resolve anything for me. But I went to
NewTorrents.info and this did solve my problem. Hope someone else can use the info. ))
Very good info, thanks!
To recap, the culprit was the following registry entry:
The solution was to delete this value from the registry.
Technical background
Apparently Ashampoo Winoptimizer 5 created this value and set it to a wrong data type, which caused Outlook Express 6 to freak out and remove the "Accounts" command.
The correct data type is DWORD, and only a DWORD value of 0 or the total absence of this value lets the "Accounts" command appear. Any value of any other data type also suppresses the "Accounts" command.
