Can't Burn CD/DVD error in NERO but able to play all cd/dvdhello im new here. pls advise me what to do.. im a girl and doesn't know about PIO mode..i think I got 6 errors and my secondary IE channel went to PIO mode. I burned dvd but all dvd blank failed.Just what I read in the forum it caused from a scratch CD and not ok blank dvd/cd. I burned DVDs before but recently I need to back up my files some CD hang at 90%. Then I tried the next day. It burned some files but some were blanks.I read that it need to uninstall the NERo premium 7 and i did that. I installed the Nero 6.3 because it was the only available software. Then the NERO appeared my DMA is not available. I did the steps to make DMA available but my transfer mode is in PIO Mode. I reboot it nothing change. If I will reformat it, will it solve the problem and erase the registry error? I am afraid to go to regedit. Im afraid to accidentally erase some entry or keys there, i'm afraid my system will not be ok because Im not professional on this.I decided to reformat it if it is ok. The question is if i will reformat it, is there a chance I can burn DVDs/CDs in the future? is there a probability that my burner has defect? By the way im using dell laptop. |

Many possible causes

There are many possible causes. The hardware can be defective or incompatible.
The usual method in this case is to swap component. Try a different type of DVD burner. Try different software. Check cables.
